Wa'a

Baby Ahu is now one month old. For her month old birthday she got all dressed up in her hawaiian dress and we went to the lake to bless her Papa's wa'a (canoe) that he named after her.
My dad recently bought a canoe and fixed it all up and painted it and named it after Meilia Poli'ahu which Poli'ahu means snow princess. He wanted to name it after her since he can't be in Hawaii he will bring Hawaii here by bringing his wa'a here to snowy Utah and naming it snow princess.

There's her name.... Meilia Poli'ahu.

This past week has been very quiet and lonely. My sister Kawai was more than happy to take the boys this past week to Vegas to give me a break. Yes I pawned my two boys away. They rather be with their cousins anyway! The boys left Monday with grandma and grandpa Norton to St. George where uncle Chris picked them up and took them to Vegas where they played, swam and had tons of fun with their cousins. Thank you Wolsey's for taking my two rascal boys. They had the best time.

It allowed me to enjoy Meilia all to myself. She's an eating, sleeping, pooping machine. That's pretty much all she does. But I've enjoyed having time to rest and just enjoy her to myself.

The boys are coming back today thank you to uncle Chris again for dropping them off at St. George and thank you to Auntie Stef and Uncle Allen for bringing them back to me.

I'm now ready for the challenge of taking care of 3 kids without Brady. Luckily I have a lot of family here, who are willing to help. Thank you all!

Labor and Delivery

I better write this down before I forget. This is more for my records but feel free to read........

Sunday May 23rd we said goodbye to our daddy. He left early Monday morning to Oregon for school. We were all hoping that Meilia would come before he left but she was going to come when she wanted to come. Typical girl already like her mommy.

So Brady left for school, then the Tejada family left to Las Vegas Wednesday May 26th for the Tejada reunion. They took Aiden with them. I talked it over with Aiden before he left and told him that his sister might be born while he was gone to Vegas and if that was ok or if he wanted to stay to be here when Meilia was born. Of course he chose to go to Vegas. Who wouldn't, swimming and cousins??? My mom stayed behind to help me. Thank goodness!

Thursday morning May 27th around 4am I woke up feeling contractions. It was just me and Kalani at home. I decided to call my mom because I knew my dad was leaving early that morning to meet the others in Vegas. So I had my mom come and get me and had my dad stay with Kalani while he slept. We arrived at the hospital around 5am they checked me and I was only at a 2 plus. So they sent me home.

I labored all that day at my moms just laying on the couch listening to a hypno-birthing cd to calm myself down. Around 2:30pm the intensity of my contractions were getting worst but still coming at random times...7 min. apart to 2 min. apart. I was afraid to go to the hospital because I didn't want them to send me home again. I talked to Brady on the phone and he told me I need to go to the hospital because he knows me, I go pretty quickly. So as my mom was helping me to the car my contractions came a lot closer together and a lot stronger. When we got outside of the hospital around 3pm I could hardly walk. A nurse got me a wheel chair and wheeled me to the delivery room where they checked me and I was at a 6 almost 7. I requested that I got into the jacuzzi so they filled the tub and let me sit in there to ease my contractions. It felt really nice to get into the jacuzzi it really does help with the contractions and gravity. I was only in there about 10 minutes when a contraction came and I felt the need to push. I told my mom she better get my midwife in here. I had another contraction in the jacuzzi and I felt the need to push. My midwife came in and watched as I had another contraction and saw that I was trying to push again. She then said ok you need to get out onto the table. As I was getting out I had another contraction, I then got onto the table and started to push my baby out. It took about 2 good pushes and Meilia was born. They placed her on me while they cleaned her off. She was on me the whole time while they cleaned her off and suctioned her mouth. Usually Brady is there for the births and he usually cuts the umbilical cord but since he wasn't they asked if I wanted to cut it and I sure did. It was an amazing birth, no epidural and no episiotomy.
